STaG Nights is the society’s biggest event of the year, an annual, exciting three day festival of theatre and we have recently expanded to include music, dance, film and comedy too! It is regarded as one of Scotland’s largest student theatre festivals and involves everyone in the society from technicians and designers to actors and directors.Every year STaG Nights has a theme (over the years we’ve transformed the theatre into a student flat, a circus, a New Orleans swamp and a Cirque du Noir festival) This year, the theme is Boom and Bust, 1920′s jazz era loosely inspired by F.Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby….. STaG Nights 2010: Boom and Bust.

“I like large parties. They’re so intimate. At small parties there isn’t any privacy.” The band is in full swing as you head down an alleyway under the November night sky following the sound of a playful saxophone. You move into what you thought was a Glasgow nightclub but you are now in the midst of elegant dancers in flapper dresses, woman and men drinking champagne underground at the height of the economic boom. At this year’s 10th Anniversary of STaG Nights, Student Theatre at Glasgow (STaG) transform Stereo into a 1920’s Speakeasy and whisk you away into three nights of cabaret and jazz inspired entertainment.

The next generation of writers, directors, designers and actors create fresh and challenging theatre, film, comedy and more for you to enjoy this November the 17th, 18th and 19th (Doors open at 7pm with the first performance starting at 730pm). Tickets can be purchased on the door only, for £6 (£5 concessions) for a day pass or £14 (12.50 concessions) for a festival three day pass. Special events will also take place during the day of the Thursday and Friday performances. Thursday the 18th between11am-1pm we will be hosting a Film Festival celebrating the best of student filmmaking from Cut! Filmmaking Society. On Friday the 19th between 1 and 3pm we will be hosting a comedy event featuring a fantastic line-up of student comedians from around Scotland. These events will be free of charge.
