The Cecilian Society, Glasgow University’s foremost musical theatre society, proudly present their main show of 2013; Frank Loesser’s hit musical ‘Guys and Dolls’.  The society have previously performed musicals such as ‘Our House’, ‘Anything Goes’, ‘Bugsy Malone’, ‘Oklahoma’ and in September 2012 ‘Little Shop of Horrors’. The society recently celebrated their 60th Anniversary in October, with a fantastic weekend of events including a hit concert packed full of musical classics. Building on the success of this weekend, they now bring this classic American musical to the Mitchell Theatre stage in February. With a cast of over 60 talented people bursting with enthusiasm, it is a must-see event!

Guys and Dolls GUM

Set in 1950’s New York, ‘Guys and Dolls’ sees the charismatic gambler Sky Masterson try to woo the beautiful Sister Sarah of the Salvation Army to win a bet made with lovable gangster Nathan Detroit. Meanwhile Nathan is trying to avoid getting married to his fiancé of 14 years, Miss Adelaide, while searching for a place to hold his famous floating crap game. Guys and Dolls is a musical loved for over 60 years, debuting on Broadway in 1950 and was also made into a hit feature film starring Marlon Brando and Frank Sinatra in 1955. Packed with well-known classics such as ‘Luck Be A Lady’, ‘Fugue for Tinhorns’ and ‘Sit Down You’re Rockin’ the Boat’, and with amazing dance sequences, lively costumes and set; it is a show not to be missed!

‘Guys and Dolls’ is being performed in The Mitchell Theatre from the 13th-16th of February, with a matinee on the Saturday.
