‘Tis the season to be innovative, and there are festive pop-up shops popping up all over the city. Brave the cold and visit the five that we consider among the cream of this year’s winter harvest…

Top of the pop-ups…

The Hidden Lane pop-up shop, Hidden Lane, off Argyle St (Finnieston end)

Run by online company muchtoofun.com, in their office off the beaten track in up-and-coming Finnieston’s funky Hidden Lane. Features knits from Wonky Woolies, merchandise from Belle and Sebastian and jewellery from Bonnie Bling. A great place to spend that fiver for Secret Santa wisely.

Granny Would Be Proud! Sunday market, Sunday 19th December, noon-7pm, Hillhead Bookclub

Rounding off their Christmas run is this weekend’s GWBP, now a regular fixture in the HB calendar. Everything from comics to vintage, with live music from DJ Kate Pringle of clubnight ‘Beep Beep, Yeah’ (Edinburgh).

Sloans Market, outside Sloans, every weekend, 11am-5pm, Free

Sloans market is pretty much for life, not just for Christmas. Held weekends in the alley outside Glasgow’s oldest bar & restaurant, it’s become part of the Saturday and Sunday streetlife in the shopping district.

Supermercado Festive edition, Carlton Entry, the Barras, Saturday from 10am – CANCELLED DUE TO WEATHER WARNING

Made In the Shade now has its permanent Saturday spot in its Supermercado residency. Held in a hot-pink neon-lit covered courtyard in the heart of the Barras, there’s a diamond in amongst the rough of the East End. Promising vintage & thrift, jewellery, gifts and, of course cake, what’s not to celebrate?

Welcome Home pop-up shop, CCA foyer, Daily except Sun/Mon, until 23rd December.

Mhari McMullan takes her fantastic Welcome Home store to front-of-house at CCA, with an assortment of discerningly selected art and crafts pieces including textiles, ceramics, jewellery and prints. The Welcome Home store at Partick is open as usual.
